About AWWD
Areas of specialization
Sites for web novices
Being a novice shouldn't prevent a person from having a website. I often work with clients who know little about the web.
Sites for quilters and quilt guilds
I am a guild member myself and am familiar with the workings and requirements of guilds. I offer discounts on sites for quilt guilds to show support for guilds in general.
The name
Attic windows is the name of a quilt pattern. It has the appearance of window panes; sometimes quilters display items in the "windows" of their attic windows quilts.
Similarly, Attic Windows Web Design helps you display what you'd like in computer browser windows.
Not sure what browser windows are? Find out here.
The studio
Attic Windows Web Design is a one-woman design studio. My approach stems from my own experiences with the web and learning web design. My first site was one that I created with a friend. We needed a site for a project so I read a book on HTML and taught my friend what I was learning via e-mail. We discussed every detail and worked until we got the results we both wanted. When I began designing sites for others, this early experience informed my approach. Although I won't be teaching you computer markup languages like HTML, I will work with you to make your site look the way you want it to look. I welcome your feedback throughout the design process and in turn will provide you with my feedback based on my knowledge of the web and web design.
On being a quilter
My background in quilting enhances my design work. I have been learning about color, design and layout for years as a quilter. Now I use that knowledge to make web design choices.
